Christmas No 1

Would you all do me a favour please?

Katherine Crowe is a singer/songwriter who has terminal breast cancer, you can read all about her here.  She won't live much longer and it is her dream to have a Christmas No 1 hit.  Would you please buy her single from iTunes and help her achieve her dream?

Katherine is hoping to raise enough money from the single to leave a nest egg for her young children but will also be making a donation to cancer charities.  It's only 79p so even if this isn't normally your kind of music it's a very small donation to make.

It's been climbing the charts all day - it was released just over 10 hours ago, 2 hours ago it was No 144 and is currently at number 25!

Please spread the word and help make her Christmas....

Life

Sometimes life gets in the way...

3 week holiday - that was great!
Not feeling so well
Mega busy at work - that's OK
Different kind of not feeling well
Weekend in Sheffield with 22 girls aged 10 - 14 - that was stressful but fun!
Still not feeling well
Find out I need a hysterectomy
Find out Mum has leukemia
Find out I have asthma
Still mega busy at work

Sometimes it's hard to work out what to say when life isn't going the way you planned.

Everyday

Over at Sticky Fingers the topic of the week is "Everyday".

I have a job that's full of everyday tasks, you know - the tasks that you don't jump up & down with joy about but you know they are essential to the job.  Everyday I answer the phone, send emails, make lists, check materials, proof-read... the list could go on, but that wouldn't make a very interesting blog post!

I'm really lucky, in addition to my job being full of everyday tasks Every Day is different, I never know what will happen next.  In a classroom with teenagers - that was a couple of weeks ago.  In a classroom with primary children - that's almost every other week!  Recruiting, training, supervising volunteers, filling in when the volunteers have to pull out; fundraising; accounts - there's a little bit of everything in there.  And then along comes a day that is anything but everyday, one of those days when you really know that Every Day is different.  Look at what I was doing today:

Yep!  I got to play with fabric and my sewing machine all in the name of work!  How cool is that? I get to play at work.  It was one of those "Every day is different and you never know what will happen next" moments when I was asked to make this.  Initially I wasn't very happy - when was I going to have time, panicking in case I did it wrong...  Over the last few weeks I worked out a plan, ordered the fabric and set to work last Thursday with the finishing touches this morning.  At lunch time I took it to show the team of A'Level students it is for.  They love it!  Phew!

Not every day is like that, there are plenty that contain only everyday tasks, but today I really loved my job.

Sunshine

Linking to The Gallery.

I took lots of photos in the recent beautiful sunshine - but none that I really liked so here are some old photos.

I love the way the sun is shining through the trees on this one.  It is very calm and tranquil.

The sun is there - in a very eerie way.

The sun shone through the rain - a good omen as we left the Church after my brother-in-law's wedding?

This is the one I was looking for - the others just caught my eye as I trawled through every photo taken in March or April for the last 6 years.  It wasn't there.  Then I remembered I took it with a different camera and all the photos taken with that camera are filed separately!

Picture Postcard

I'm lucky.  I live on an Island, a beautiful Island with lots of photo opportunities.  It was actually really hard to choose a photo for this week, so hard that I nearly didn't.  Today I took a photo whilst on the beach pictured above - but that isn't the photo.  When I saved today's I saw this one, snapped on my phone whilst on a night out.  It's taken from inside the conservatory of a local pub!
